TELECOMMUNICATIONS PROJECT MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP (TPMA CERTIFICATION) This three day course includes the preparation of a project plan for medium to large telecommunications projects. The course prepares the student to successfully sit for the Telecommunications Project Management Association's certification examination as a Certified Project Manager. Students work in teams to write a Scope of Work, develop an Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS), and develop Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Pert/CPM, Gant charts, Earned Value Cost Tracking, Quality Plan, Safety Plan and conduct negotiations. The class includes two projects during which the student will apply lessons learned to practical application. If the student has access to a laptop computer with MS Project 2000, they should bring it to class for use in the classroom exercises. Laptops are not required but we have found that they enhance the training experience for the student. This class will not be a training session on the use of MS Project. The student must be familiar enough with the software to be able to use it in class if they bring a laptop to class. Methods include epoxy, UV cured, convection over cured and anaerobic cured connectors. Splices include both mechanical and fusion. On completion of the course, the technician will be certified by 3M on the Hot Melt Connector, the VF45 Volition connector and the CrimpLok splice. The course includes all consumables and connectors. It also includes the preparation of a Scope of Work and the response to the clients RFQ. The student will use a basic "job" estimating spreadsheet to create a take off and price a project. This spreadsheet software will be provided as a student hand out from the course. The course is three days in length.
