| RESIDENTIAL CABLING COURSES Get a head start on the competition and become a BICSI Registered Residential Installer.
This brand new comprehensive training and registration program presents the latest technologies and techniques in the emerging field of residential cabling networks. Qualified installers are currently in demand to meet the increasingly complex needs of today's electronic home. Course graduates will be well-equipped to design and install a variety of residential network systems, including new construction and retrofits.
To provide maximum flexibility, BICSI's new residential program is offered in two courses: RES100 and RES150 described below: RES100: Residential Network Cabling: Theory Designed for individuals not needing hands-on experience and BICSI Registered Installers, Level 2, and Technicians, RES100 is a 2-1/2 day, 20 hour course. A separate written exam to achieve Registered Residential Installer status will be held immediately after the course. Only BICSI Registered Installers, Level 2 and Technicians in good standing may take the written exam which is held immediately after the course. The exam is based on the contents of BICSI's Residential Network Cabling Manual.
The course features modules on voice, data, and video distribution based on ANSI/TIA/EIA-570-A and the National Electrical Code¨. Students will learn about twisted-pair, coaxial and optical fiber cabling, connectors, transmission fundamentals, and more.

Course Fee RES100 $450
Course Materials: You will be provided with a separate course workbook for RES100, notepads, and highlighters. Purchase of BICSI's Residential Network Cabling Manual is optional. The manual will not be used in class, but is recommended for students planning to take the exam. Credits 15 RCDD hours 15 Installer, Level 2 hours 15 Technician hours
Who Should Attend: BICSI Registered Installers, Level 2, and Technicians, as well as individuals needing general industry knowledge, such as construction supervisors, real estate professionals, building inspectors, etc.
Written Exam: The Registered Residential Installer written exam is held immediately following the completion of RES100 for BICSI Registered Installers, Level 2, and Technicians only. It is closed-book and contains 100 multiple choice or true/false questions taken from the BICSI Residential Network Cabling Manual.
Exam Fees RES100 $75 ($25 exam application fee, $50 written exam fee) If necessary, a $50 exam retake fee will apply.
RES150 Residential Network Cabling Course Overview RES150 Course Designed for individuals with no prior BICSI installation training, RES150 is a 5-day, 40-hour course, plus separate written and hands-on exams, held the day after the course ends. The written exam is based on the contents of BICSI's Residential Network Cabling Manual; the hands-on exam is based on class exercises. NOTE: Attendance in only the hands-on section of RES150 is not permitted.
The theory component of the class features the contents of the RES 100 class. The hands-on component includes a review of installation practices and hands-on instruction in new construction and retrofit rough-in skills for locating and mounting distribution devices and outlets. Students will practice properly pulling, securing, and terminating copper, coaxial, and optical fiber cables. Trim-out finish techniques will be covered, as well as system testing, documentation, and cleanup.
