I want to sincerely thank everyone for their hard work and dedication throughout this past year. 2017 was both exciting and challenging. As a company, we had over 90 new hires in 2017. This enabled us to add some critically needed talent to the organization. Understandably, the challenges associated with integrating all these people into ComNet were substantial. In August, ComNet wrapped up the Toyota North American Headquarters project in Dallas, which was the largest campus buildout in our history. The Jacksonville office had a breakout year, and exceeded all expectations. Unfortunately, we also had some offices that struggled in their markets.
As we move into the new year, the goal is to focus on the market segments that generate the greatest return to the company. It’s essential that we reduce the transactional churn in areas where we experience limited success, or we see substandard profitability and cash flow. We need to focus on customers who want great, and then we have to deliver. If a customer wants just any company, then they probably aren’t the right customer for us. The objective isn’t to do less. It’s to be smarter in our allocation of resources by focusing on areas where we can leverage ComNet’s strengths. This will be an ongoing process, and can’t happen instantaneously. It will involve all aspects of our business, from Sales through Operations.
I believe in my heart that ComNet is a great company and provides the best service in the industry. This is a direct result of ComNet’s ability to work as a team. The economy remains healthy, and there is strong demand for the services that ComNet can provide. It’s up to us to take better advantage of it in the coming year.
